Robin Hood Half Marathon 2026
Run with the Richard Whitehead Foundation
We are proud to return as a Gold Partner of the Robin Hood Half Marathon and are excited to welcome runners to Team Richard Whitehead Foundation.
The race starts and finishes along Nottingham’s scenic riverside, with fantastic crowd support and an unforgettable finish line atmosphere. The event is open to runners of all abilities and is known for its friendly, inclusive environment.
We have 30 charity places available, alongside places for runners who already have their own entry and would like to fundraise for the Foundation. By running with us, you are helping to create opportunities for disabled people in sport across the UK, ensuring everyone has the chance to take part, feel included, and achieve their goals.
Event details
Date: Sunday 27 September 2026
Location: Victoria Embankment, Nottingham
Fundraising target: £200 (charity place), or £100 if you have your own place (optional)
The impact your fundraising makes
Your fundraising helps disabled people access inclusive sport and physical activity opportunities. This year, we’ve set an overall fundraising target of £15,000 for the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Reaching this will help us directly support 50 disabled people to get active and take part in a sporting activity.

“I ran the Robin Hood Half Marathon in 2025 and chose The Richard Whitehead Foundation as my chosen charity as it is a fabulous charity close to my heart. We went to the Run with Rich inclusive event the day before which was truly awesome. The support from the charity and Rich himself is amazing and really helps to make it worthwhile. The RWF has a very personal feel compared to other charities I have previously supported. The Robin Hood Half Marathon is a great event for both first timers, slow runners as well as elite athletes.”

Introducing our ‘Top Fundraiser 2026’ Competition
We suspect there may be a few competitive runners amongst you… so we’re introducing a brand-new challenge this year!
The person who raises the most will receive a very special Richard Whitehead Foundation “Top Fundraiser 2026” running t-shirt and a Certificate of Recognition, personally signed by Rich and our CEO, Lisa May - a fun extra incentive as you kick start your fundraising!
Fundraising targets
To help cover charity place costs and maximise your fundraising impact, we ask official Charity Place Runners to commit to a £200 minimum fundraising target.
If the £200 minimum fundraising target is not reached, we may ask you to make a personal contribution toward the event entry fee.
Our aim is to ensure that all charity places are sustainably funded. If you’re unable to raise the full £200 minimum, a £45 personal contribution to your own JustGiving page will be required to help cover the cost of the charity place. This contribution can be made either as your full entry fee or as a top up to reach the minimum amount (for example, if your remaining shortfall is less than £45).
We will support you with fundraising ideas, resources, and encouragement every step of the way.
Got your own place already?
Amazing! We’d love you to join the team.
We suggest a £100 fundraising goal, this is optional, but every pound helps us power more of our work. Whether you raise £10 or £1,000, your efforts help us change lives. Think of it as extra feelgood miles!
Can’t take part this year but still want to support our cause? Donate to our Robin Hood fundraising page to cheer on our runners and help make sport and movement more accessible for disabled people. Every mile run and every pound raised makes a real and lasting difference.

Support runners
Making the Robin Hood Half Marathon inclusive for all
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to take on challenges like the Robin Hood Half Marathon.
If you have a disability and feel you would benefit from additional support on the course, you can request to take part with a Support Runner.
What Is a Support Runner?
A support runner is someone who runs alongside you to provide physical and emotional support throughout the race. They can help with pacing, motivation, navigation, and responding to any additional needs on the day, helping you feel confident and safe from start to finish.
“I cannot thank The Richard Whitehead Foundation enough for supporting runners taking part in the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Without my amazing support runner, Jessica, having my back on the difficult hills, I would never have got round.
My sugars were bouncing around and my support dog Tilly notified me. I started panicking as I could not find a sports drink and the fruit had gone, but Jess remained incredibly calm, positive, and so supportive throughout.”
Claire’s experience shows how the right support can transform a daunting challenge into a powerful and positive achievement.
